Business, Health Care and Community Leaders Join to Celebrate Wellspring's Major Facelift at Sunnybrook Hospital

Thanks to a hugely successful fundraising campaign, the renovated Wellspring centre will provide more supportive care programs to help people and their families living with cancer.

“We were very gratified by the incredibly generous response to the Campaign, coming as it did in the midst of a difficult economic downturn”, said Spencer Lanthier, Expansion Campaign Chair. “This speaks to the importance of Wellspring’s cancer support programs and the difficult reality that cancer touches so many lives.”

Canada AM’s Beverly Thomson will host a strong group of supporters and donors at the highly anticipated Grand Opening of Wellspring Westerkirk House at Sunnybrook on October 7th.

Starting with a remarkable lead gift of $1.5 million from Westerkirk Capital, and a significant commitment of support from expansion builder, Ellis Don, the Campaign was launched on a very positive note.  A strong tide of generosity from the Wellspring community of volunteers, members, and friends complemented these early commitments and moved the Campaign to its successful conclusion.

The new and improved facility includes a demonstration kitchen, exercise room, child minding centre, lecture room with a 60-person capacity, art therapy workshop and a support room dedicated to young adults with cancer. A wonderfully creative and generous design team, led by Kimberley Seldon and Robin Siegerman, donated their time, talent and expertise to create a warm and welcoming space for individuals and families.
