Marcia - Wellspring Member

My name is Marcia and I started my cancer journey in July 2010.  In the whirlwind of activity, talking to doctors, nurses and case workers, a few people mentioned Wellspring.  I was told about this wonderful support centre for people diagnosed with cancer and their family members.  I didn’t realize it at the time, but Wellspring would soon become my second home.

I registered for Cancer Exercise at Wellspring, on the advice of my hospital physiotherapist.  A routine was designed specifically for me, taking into account any physical issues I had due to my treatment and prior exercise experience.
The program leaders were very patient and extremely knowledgeable.  I felt safe with my fellow participants.  We all had our war stories but the focus wasn’t cancer, it was getting healthier.  Even on days when I lack the energy, I felt better by the end of my routine.

My mobility, body, and self-image were changed by cancer but Cancer Exercise gave me back my movement, strength and self-confidence.  It was also a place where I formed some important friendships.  Thanks to everyone at Wellspring, for making this part of my journey feel calmer.
