It can be difficult to navigate through the mountains of information available regarding nutrition and cancer. Working with expert dietitians with experience in oncology Wellspring has developed a comprehensive training program, that helps to seperate the science from the fiction when it comes to nutritional claims.
Session Descriptions
Sessions cover a variety of topics and are all fully customizable.
Eating Well During Treatment
Eating can be a challenge when dealing with cancer and its treatment. People often find it difficult to maintain or gain weight during treatment. Participants in this session will learn about healthy eating strategies, practical cooking suggestions to maintain weight, and strategies to help manage any potential treatment-related symptoms (such as nausea, dehydration, diarrhea, smell and taste aversions) in order to optimize nutritional well-being.
Healthy Eating After Treatment – Reducing Risk for Recurrence
This is session covers the latest research on a wide variety of foods and introduce participants to “phytochemicals” and other healthy foods that can help to reduce the risk for cancer recurrence. Participants will also review recommendations on food, nutrition and physical activity as it relates to cancer prevention. An overview of those foods with the most promise will be covered as well as vitamin D.
Colorectal Cancer and Diet – Nutritional Management of Side Effects During and After Treatment
Colorectal cancer patients face the challenge of learning how to adapt their eating to incorporate digestion changes experienced during and after treatment. The side effects of colorectal cancer and its treatment are often long term. During this session participants will learn how the diet is affected by these changes and how diet can be managed to improve quality of life and diet tolerance.
Colorectal Cancer – Reducing Risk for Recurrence after Treatment by Making Healthy Food Choices
This session is focused on the latest information, science and research related to healthy foods to reduce the risk for a colorectal cancer recurrence, regain wellness and better incorporate a variety of healthy foods to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy Eating the Vegetarian Way
This session explores how to live a healthy vegetarian lifestyle ensuring proper nutrition.
Breast Cancer and Healthy Eating
In this program, participants will learn about the most current information and research related to food, nutrition and breast cancer. Participants will learn about concurrent illnesses that breast cancer patients may be at risk for and nutritional advice to reduce this risk.
