Care for the Professional Caregiver
Research strongly suggests that patient-centered care, stress relief and employee retention are directly related to the ability of healthcare professionals to obtain supportive care for themselves.
Wellspring’s Care for the Professional Caregivers Program is designed to provide front-line professional workers with effective self-help tools to manage work-related stress and fatigue.
‘Burnout’ in front-line health care professions is a well-known phenomenon, with a potentially serious impact on professionals, patients and health care organizations. The Care for the Professional Caregivers Program is designed to educate professional caregivers about burn-out, focusing on vicarious trauma and loss as a key contributor. The program also addresses how burn-out can be recognized and prevented, and teaches coping strategies specially designed for the workplace.
Wellspring has delivered the Care for the Professional Caregivers Program to over 700 nurses, social workers and other professions in the health care industry in Ontario. In a study measuring the efficacy of the Care for the Professional Caregiver Program, the participants found significant improvements in the levels of workplace stressors after accessing the program*.
