About Us
Wellspring first opened its doors in a welcoming Coach House in 1992. A cozy retreat from its busy downtown surroundings, the Coach House quickly established Wellspring as the place to go for cancer support in Toronto.
In 2002, Wellspring expanded to Odette House to accommodate growth. Odette House and the Coach House have continued to grow each year, adding programs and members. Also in 2002 Wellspring’s Centre of Innovation was established to rovides support for the entire network of Wellspring centres through new program design and evaluation, information technology infrastructure, diversity programming and network expansion.
In 2011, after nearly 20 years at 81 Wellesley Street East, the high cost of much-needed renovations required to maintain the centre, increase accessibility, and accomodate current and further program grwoth necessitated seeking out new program space and, as a result, Odette House and the Coach House was sold.
In December 2011, Wellspring's Downtown Toronto location moved to temporary space at Women's College Hospital. Wellspring's administration and fundraising teams as well as the Money Matters Resource Centre moved to a temporary office at Yonge and Adelaide Streets. Wellspring continues to look for a new permanent space that will accomodate the increasing demand for programs and the rising number of people seeking the support of Wellspring.
