Wellspring offers a few caregiver support programs, each designed to meet you where you are: Caregivers Connect, a monthly support and relaxation group; Finding Sanctuary, a themed group discussion program focused on preventing burnout and developing self-care strategies; and Reflective Writing for Caregivers, a four-week series using guided writing and mindfulness to help you reconnect with your own identity and needs. Each program takes a different approach, so the right fit depends on what kind of support you’re looking for at this point in your caregiving journey. Caregivers can also access a number of other Wellspring programs including Be Well Talks, Cancer Coaching, Chi Life, Drumming, Energy Program, Healing Journey, Meditation, Mindfulness, Money Matters, Music Therapy, Nourish, Peer Support, Relaxation and Visualization, Writing Workshops, and Yoga.
Yes, Wellspring’s Caregivers Connect: Support and Relaxation is a professionally facilitated group program designed exclusively for people caring for someone with cancer. It meets once a month for a 120-minute session and is an open group, meaning you can join whenever you’re able without a fixed commitment. The program gives you the opportunity to share your experience to whatever extent feels comfortable, connect with others who truly understand, and access information about caregiving resources.
Yes, there is. Published research has found that psychosocial support programs that provide social connectedness and informational support lead to measurable improvements in anxiety, self-efficacy, depressive symptoms, and overall quality of life for caregivers of people living with cancer, whether delivered in person or virtually. Wellspring’s Finding Sanctuary program is grounded in this evidence base, designed to address the real burdens caregivers face including emotional distress, social isolation, and the strain of ongoing responsibility. Knowing that what you’re experiencing has been studied, and that effective support exists, is itself a meaningful first step.
What you’re feeling is real, and you’re not alone in feeling it. Wellspring’s caregiver support programs are built specifically around the reality that caregiving involves prolonged emotional pain, guilt, sadness, and fear — emotions that are valid and that deserve a proper space. Both Caregivers Connect and Finding Sanctuary offer group environments where caregivers come together to share, be heard, and process the weight of their role alongside others who are living it too. One participant described Caregivers Connect as “a constant when everything else feels as though it is in flux.”
No writing experience is needed — Reflective Writing for Caregivers uses writing simply as a tool to help you process emotion, gain clarity, and express what often goes unspoken, not as a creative or literary exercise. The program runs as a four-week series in a small, supportive group setting, with each week exploring a distinct theme: building inner resilience, navigating uncertainty, understanding compassion fatigue, and approaching difficult conversations in a new way. Sharing what you write is always optional, and you’re encouraged to engage at whatever level feels right for you.
